Dream Up Ideas That Will Green Up Our Planet
Over the past few years, we’ve seen a rise in groups dedicated towards improving the lives of others: either through community outreach, recycling (or Freecycling), Do-it-Yourself projects, or doing things naturally and locally.
Just like you, here at Yahoo! we’re always looking for new ways to improve our community, products, and the lives of others. Recently, Yahoo! For Good teamed up with the TV show Everyday Edisons to launch a "Make-It-Green" Program, geared towards improving the world around us by doing right by our planet. To learn more about this program, check out the details below from the "Make-It-Green" team and Yahoo! For Good.
Do you have product ideas that will make our lives a little easier and our planet a little greener? Yahoo! wants you to submit your world changing ideas to our Make-It-Green program. This could mean your ideas get turned into real products and you’d get $2,500 and a share of the sales.
What is Make-It-Green?
Make-It-Green is turning great ideas that improve people’s lives and help our planet into actual products. Yahoo! is looking for the best green products or do-it-yourself projects and we need your help. Submit your idea, and if it’s chosen, you could see your product on store shelves, get $2,500 and a share of the sales, and possibly appear on the TV show Everyday Edisons .
You can also give the “thumbs up” to your favorites ideas. Your votes will help surface ideas we will consider making into products that will be sold in retail stores.
What is a Green Idea?
A green idea can mean using fewer resources, reusing materials, or finding a better way to get rid of unwanted stuff. To give you an idea of what we are looking for, a recent green product that we love is the Kyoto Box – a solar-powered cooker constructed from two cardboard boxes, aluminum foil and an acrylic cover. It saves energy, trees, the atmosphere, and even lives—and costs about $6 to make!
Where can I learn more?
Submit your great green idea or pick your favorites at makeitgreen.yahoo.com .
After you’ve checked out the site, come back and tell us what you think. Or, share your Green Group here! We’d love to hear about the different ways you’re giving back to your community, with the help of Yahoo! Groups.

I think we have what we need to do this just don’t know why where not doing it think we should go back to glass instead of plastic bottles at least glass is all recyclable and you it can be done over and over and over again for ever. now i know someone is going to say it takes alot of heat and energy to make glass and that is true but im sure they can do it using wind power or solar. and if most of the stuff is made out of glass it helps people to recycle this way you don’t have 4 or 5 cans around with garbage in it like one for soda cans and one for garbage and one for plastic and one for glass and one for other cans im for recycle but i don’t want all these garbage cans around either.

Forget “Make It Green.” How about “Make It Work”: Search, attachments, remote member approval, *that* stuff. First.
BEFORE adding any more bells and whistles.

Is there anybody from Yahoo actually moderating or reading the comments on this blog? I don’t think so. The spam and idiotic “I’m new” comments are out of control. Meanwhile, all the legitimate complaints about everything that’s wrong with Yahoo Groups are seemingly being ignored. Get your bloody act together Yahoo, or you’ll have a flood of people leaving for Google Groups just like I did.

Go GREEN is an essential formula of the team nature allows, and promotes.
The #1 newest requirements are not going to happen in laboratories or on campus.
PLEASE confine pollution artistry to the area that is designated outside of the reserve,
resource, and upgrades by using the existing plans and actions that are paid so dearly
ahead and show some respect for the thousands and thousand veterans that will ask
to try again in another day and age. Their spirit lives on and allies we are. Yet this
emptiness is totally wrong. Get some support on the road for the wagon train to heaven.

my thought is to use the land along all of our expressways to grow the next generation of biofules such as switchgrass that can give 8 or 10 times the amount of fuel per/acer on presently unproductive land.the new crops would be drout resistent and because of their size they would also be a good brake for cars that go off the road.and they would’nt cause any food/crop land to be used.

Start a neighbourhood Green committee we did! Our neighbourhood has a huge amount of apt, condo and townhouse housing. We are looking at derelict areas to green, plant swapping, recycle events, planned waste removal, events, awareness meetings, composting solutions, garbage sorting, visiting each others’ gardens on rooftops and around buildings, attacking pollution causing sources such as billboards, crane lighting, and air. One of our teams is guerilla gardening, finding a derelict space and planting.

this Go Green is dumb as a stump. the only thing it will help is new products you are forced to buy.
Look at battery powered cars! hydrocloric acid is more dangerous to us than any hydrocabon fule. wind and solar power are not being presented as individual powers. both are great, wind moreso than solar. wind has less upkeep and maintenance, is cost affordable for individuals. wind farms are going to charge you to use something that the company got free. ya have to use common sense. nothing pushed by any group that has money is planned to make them money. God has control and controlers can’t change it
