Moderator Central Message Boards: Connect, Share, Collaborate

Because we’ve had so many new readers lately, I wanted to resurface a post highlighting the Groups Message Boards.

If you’re a moderator and haven’t yet checked out the Moderator Central Message Boards, I’d encourage you to go check them out.

The Moderator Message Boards are a great place for new moderators to ask for advice from more seasoned moderators about setting up a group, discussing tips on member recruitment and managing group dynamics, or to stay up to speed on technical issues, common challenges, and workarounds. These public forums are in a threaded message format, so they are easy to follow and search. You can even subscribe to an RSS feed or Alert so you don’t miss a thing.

Some basics for participating on these Message Boards include:

Search the existing topics on the message boards before posting a new topic to see if your question has already been asked and answered. Just type your keyword(s) in the search box at the top of the board and click the search button to see what’s already been posted on the topic. The key is to be as specific as possible so you can narrow the search results down as much as possible.

Post a new message: Go to the message list view, sign in to Yahoo! if necessary, and, click “Post New Message.” Select your public profile (which is how others will recognize you), write both a message subject and message, and then click “Post Message.”

Create a new topic: Briefly summarize your question or subject in the “message subject” line when you post a message.

Reply to a message: Click the “Reply” link at the bottom of any message, sign in to Yahoo! if necessary, select your public profile (which is how others will recognize you), write your comments, and click “Post Message.” You can edit your message as you write it but you cannot edit it after you preview or post it.

As an adendum to my previous post, the proper URL is:

    groups.yahoo.com/group/anherbgarden

Somehow tech got stuck in there and I can’t figure out how to get it unstuck.

  9. Teresa Kuhl says:

Hey all! I’ve got a bit of a problem here with one of my groups. The appearance of the front page has changed without any visible reason, and the archives have disappeared. A reader wrote me off list so I could look into it, and I’m not sure what happened. All I can see is that the group effectively no longer exists. Here is the link:

    http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/anherbgarden/

I tried to get to one of the help forms, but I kept getting messaging that the page was having trouble loading. Do you have any idea what’s up?

Why is Yahoo not working to reduce SPAM. Better filters or what ever you need to do to reduce SPAM.

    Hello Sandy and Dov,

I am very concerned about a possible merger with microsoft.
They got rid of all their adult groups. Now they want to buyYahoo, who is getting rid of ITS adult groups slowly.
So, going to G-mail is a strong possibility.
