Duplicate Message Bug

UPDATE: We believe this problem has been fully resolved (the fix actually was pushed on the afternoon of the 27th). But if you’re continuing to see duplicate messages, please do still contact Customer Care with the information described below.

We are aware of the duplicate message bug that is affecting some groups and are investigating the problem.

If your group is experiencing this issue, please contact Customer Care and supply the following information:

- Whether the messages are appearing multiple times in the archive or only in email.
- Whether you are the only person experiencing the issue or whether most people in the group are getting the duplicates
- Whether it is happening to all messages sent to the group or just specific ones (either way, provide the message numbers in the archive of the duplicating messages).
- Provide the full headers of 2 (or more) copies of the duplicate messages.

The headers, in particular, are vital for us to be able to effectively troubleshoot.  This site http://www.fraudaid.com/find_headers.htm#service provides useful information on how to get headers for many different email clients.

Here is the URL for contacting Customer Care:

Thank you for your help in fixing this bugs and our apologies for the duplicates to all affected groups.

I and certain (but not all) members of lists that I help run have been getting multiple copies of certain messages via email. The problem started yesterday, and it appears to be continuing. In one particularly egregious case, I have received 34 copies of the same message over the past roughly 24 hours. The most recent copy arrived within the past 15 minutes.

When I visit the web page associated with the group’s traffic, I see only one copy of the message in question.

I’m still having problems posting to many Yahoo Groups. Is there a time I should post, or is everyone treated equally. I’m in the Philippines.

I applied for membership in the Brother Knitting Machines group weeks ago, and haven’t heard from them. Their group still says “membership pending”. I’d like to be able to read their comments, and participate. Ruth

  10. Bobbie says:

I received 30 copies of the same message from one of my groups but only one was in the archives. I submitted header info from the last message copy received (this morning) and “source coding” from the copy that’s in the group archives in a report to Y!G Customer Care and I’ve already received a response saying that the issue has been identified and resolved.

  11. Jacqui says:

Not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but I’ve been getting doubles of random posts with sentto and a bunch of numbers in the subject line. The email is then filled with lots of gibberish. This is an example of one of the latest ones:

    sentto-13926196-9002-1227883974-jacquivanmeppelenscheppink=yahoo.ca@returns.groups.yahoo.com

I usually get the message filtered into the proper mailbox as well. Is this something to with settings or is it a yahoo thing?

  12. Nubia says:

i sent a good exemple to the yahoo help just now with full headers of a mail received 15 times today

i hope this will help to fix the problem soon

    regards
