Our Latest Version of the New Groups Experience

Today, we launched an update of the new Yahoo! Groups experience that some of you have been using.

The update incorporates some of your feedback and fixes a number of issues that you reported. Thank you again for your valuable comments on our blog, suggestion board, and the feedback group created specifically for the new Groups experience.

Included in this release are the following:

  • Page layout fixes across the new experience
  • Resolution of some photo issues, including moving and copying photos within an album, rearranging pictures within an album, and updating album names
  • Resolution to existing message issues, including formatting, deleting, expanding to see all replies, and attaching files on the web

If your group has switched to the new experience, please continue to share your thoughts with our team. We’re especially interested to hear from those of you who have tried the new experience and reverted your group back to the original setup. If you have reverted back, we’d appreciate it if you would leave your feedback in this thread.

    Anyone Please,

How can I switch back to the old yahoo group interface? The new version (experience) does not work for my group.

  2. ET says:

Hi, I just sent two emails from Windows Mail to a group using the new layout (/caravansarai). Instead of displaying the account name “Eric T”, the whole email address was used as the display name. I logged out of the account and found that the whole address was still visible, not just “xyz@…” That’s just asking for spam.

  3. Paul Milnes says:

    Hi
I’ve suddenly started getting email messages every time someone uploads a picture to my group (Lewisham Freecycle). Can you tell me how to switch off this option?

    Thanks.

  4. xeretik says:

Thanks for addressing the “word wrap” issue. And kudos for the neat icon work.
Hope you can integrate the rest of the features into the new lay– especially your group apps.
I can almost see where your going. Keep up the smashing work!

  5. Jay says:

When trying open up the newsletter (using the link in the cover page of the group e-mail) I get a message saying it can not be found on the server.

  6. NIck says:

Your message search feature is also majorly borked.

  7. Diane says:

I have not been able to search the messages for sometime. I thought this was fixed.

  9. Bill says:

    I can’t change the group photo…
I keep getting the following error message…

    HTTP Status 500 –
    type Exception report

    message
description The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.

    Timer already cancelled.

  10. John says:

At least when reading messages the word wrap is working again, but there are still some layout issues. I’m seeing snippets of HTML code appearing while reading the messages. This is Firefox 3.6.10 in Linux. It didn’t take me very long to find this – your development team should really do a quick run-through of the major features with the five most popular browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome) when putting out a new version.

  11. Sassy Brit says:

How do we add pictures to our posts? Are we supposed to have RTF when we post messages on site, or is this feature currently down?

  12. Oth says:

You promised us you would continue to support Classic Groups, but there is little e idence that anything is being done to help the majority of Group members who chose to stay there. Bugs are not being fixed while at the same time the Help system is being geared to the small minority who has opted to try your “new experiece”
