Weekend Issues….

jjjHello everyone on Yahoo! Groups:

As some of you have noticed, over the weekend we experienced some server issues that impacted about 1/8 of our groups. These issues included:

*Messages that were queued up but not delivered
*Message search was still not working for a few of our groups

Thanks to the diligent members who brought this to my attention via our Blog and Moderator Central, I was able to alert our team, who worked hard over the weekend to eliminate all issues related to message delays.

Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience — sometimes servers have minds of their own! Our team is well aware of the issues regarding Message Search, and we have continued to put it on the top of our priority list. Thank you for your continuous support, understanding, and feedback in this process.

    Hello! It appears that the ability to FORWARD a post from a Yahoo Groups listserv is no longer there. This was a hugely useful feature … any chance it could be brought back? Thanks!

    A few features I use with the classic view is:
    1. messages in groups as titles (simple view) only so I can see many more topics at once
    2. when I go to my groups page, I see all my groups at once

    Now, since there doesn’t seem to be an option to view topics within a group as title only, I need to scroll thru many more pages to find info and when i click on the groups link at the top, it only shows a few groups and I must click show all … many more clicks to achieve what I was able to do with less in classic view.

    Will you have the ability to show only titles of posts so I don’t have to scroll thru so many pages and can we have a groups home page that will show all of our groups in one view?

    I understand your wanting to update the look and feel … but it seems you’ve made it more difficult to access the info we all need and want. Hopefully, you will add easier access but diminishing the number of click throughs to get that info.

    No mails for at least a week – still no mails – and Layla says it’s fixed.

    Well if that’s called fixed heaven help us if it was still broken.

    Yahoo is not free – it is funded with ads … we all fund it – therefore it should work.

    And if it isn’t working then they should make it work.

    And lots of us work weekends – so excuse me for not caring if Yahoo do.

  6. I need help. I don’t know if I’m a yahoo user but I need to be now since I’m part of a yahoo users group called “aerovee@yahoogoups.com”. I don’t know if I’m currently signed up with Yahoo. I may be since I got into the users group several days ago but now I’m trying to get into a message sent to my users group and I can’t access it. I don’t want to have conflicts with my ATT.net email address and I don’t want unwanted emails coming in from Yahoo. Can you tell me what to do?     Hello,

    Wondering why our group received a message titled “Updates in Your Groups (Beta)”, with a link to this blog under “Learn more about the Update Email”?

    The message informs us how many members joined the group.

    Is there any way to suppress this from going out to the group? I’ve never seen it before. People complain to me (moderator) when they receive this.

    I don’t mind them taking time to fix a problem. I mind them sending me emails that say the problem has been fixed when it really hasn’t been fixed.

    I know there are numerous problems gong on…but….Everyone needs to be patient with the Y! Groups team. Did you know they are working NIGHTS and WEEKENDS…OUTSIDE of their work schedule to try and resolve fixes for these issues?

    This is why the “new design” is on hold. If the new design launched WITH the current issues going on right now, there would be major disaster with MORE problems.

    All we can do is just be patient. Fixes to issues don’t come over night, and can take days or weeks to find the right fix to the problem.

    Hi, also in the Netherlands we’re expierincing problems with the photo’s.Although today I discouvered that although the photo’s dont ‘t show, they do when you click on a size large (where you can choose medium, large and original)

    No one is getting individual emails since last Thursday the 26th. Our join button is also not working. We have not received any notice or response to inquiries. Our Search is not working either.

    What was “intermittent” over the past few weeks is now – constant.

    I have received NO Yahoo Group messages since August 25th – given I am on individual messages under several ID’s for more than 100 groups, it would seem you have a much larger problem.

    We are having issues with messages being rejected saying they are too large hwne they are within Yahoo size limits.Doesnt seem to affect all members or all groups. Going on for at least 2 weeks now. It is a horrible and frustrating experience.

    Some members cannot view the new banner photo I posted Saturday. August 28, 2010. I can see it with AoL. But not with Safari.

    Where can i report this problem?

    Just wanted to add my two cents….problem downloading photos to groups. This has been going oh for several days!! What is the issue with getting it fixed?

    Correction:Some photos do appear after a day, some don’t… sometimes the thumb remains with an X, but the the photo is there if the X is clicked on….

    The issue was never fixed. Have not been able to upload photos since Wednesday. Plus Attachments aren’t coming through either.

    @Bev: Thanks for keeping me posted–our engineers are still working on it :(
    @Maria: You are the first person who is reporting this particular problem–can you please send a detailed message with your problem to Customer Care so they can forward it to our engineering team? Many thanks
    @Radhakrishnan:Great suggestion, I will bring this to the attention of the Head of our Product team and hopefully we can implement it sometimes soon :)
    @JamesA1102: The issue was fixed–but it seems like it is coming back :( I am so sorry about the inconvenience, rest assured that our entire engineering team is focused on this right now

    Tonight I tried to put an image on our groupsite page at WomenWritersthroughtheAges and got only a white frame; I tried to put an image in an album and the same thing happened.

    YESTERDAY IT WAS THE PHOTOS TROUBLE, NOW THERE IS NO WAY WE CAN REACH THE HOME GROUP, NOT EVEN TO APPROVE MESSAGES OR NEW MEMBERS. WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT?????????

    In Yahoo Groups while sending messagges I do not find SPELL CHECK.. It will be highly benefecial for people like me who are old and whose vision is slightly impaired Kindly include it.

    Ditto on the front page picture showing a broken link. One minute it works, next time you go to it, it is gone!? Since we change our front page photo weekly to honor a different member, this is a bigger problem than most for our group.

    Search is NOT WORKING AGAIN (frankly, it hardly ever works in my experience – I’ve just tried searching for any message I have posted and, despite one being 5th or 6th on the list on my screen, it tells my search term – my username – is not found).

    I sent an email to support about the photo uploading problem. After 2 days they responded saying the issue had been resolved. But of course it hasn’t been resolved and still can’t upload pics.

    The current problem I’m having with my yahoo group is that the calendar function doesn’t appear to be working correctly. The last two “appointment” notices never went out to members as scheduled.

    Seventeen of these 57 comments are reporting issues with photo uploading. I think this issue deserves a separate blog post…and it’d be nice to get some kind of progress report on Yahoo’s efforts to make Group Photos work for us again. (Please don’t make us wait ’til the makeover…)

    This is a response to a poster with negative remarks about Yahoo and the Groups. I am grateful that Yahoo has decided to continue what use to be Clubs against a determined attack from intolerant religious fundamentalists. Yahoogroups are free! Compare what we can do with our Groups which is not possible with Google and others. Despite the downturn in business Yahoo deserves applause from Owners and Moderators for keeping the service. No its not perfect but this Owner has consistently defended Yahoo against Ingrates from the time AFA tried to kick it till today when reading a baseless assault against Yahoogroups.
