Groups Update: Bounce Management, Message Search and Advanced Search
UPDATE (March 5, 2009): Despite our best efforts, the message search problem affecting some groups will not be fixed this week. We’re hopeful, however, that we will have a solution for these groups by the end of next week.
We just wanted to give you all an update on the Bounce Management and Search bugs we posted about last week.
The Groups team has been hard at work and is happy to report that the bounce management page is back up and running , so you should be able to accurately manage your member bounces now.
We also continue to make progress on the Message Search issue, but there is still work to be done there. If all goes well, a fix might come as early as late next week (week beginning March 2nd), but unfortunately it’s too soon to know for sure whether that will be possible. Until then, we appreciate your continued patience.
However, we are happy to announce that the Advanced Search feature has been restored , so feel free to search with improved accuracy! ☺
Thanks again for your patience while we continue to work on the Message Search issue, and we’ll be sure to keep you up to date once we know more.
If you’re experiencing an issue that’s not listed above, please contact Customer Care . Thanks!

Advanced Search Error is fixed – YES!
I am glad to see this serious problem involving all Groups has been taken care of promptly. It was also nice to see the Help pages promptly updated to acknowledge this problem.
Way to go YG!
I hope the Help pages will be updated soon to show that the problem has disappeared. As it stands now this is still showing:
Top Known Issues…
I’m getting an error when I try to click on Advanced Search in Groups.

Dr Robert Carl Parisien says thanks for the restoring the health of the system. Many of us find it critical to what we do.

Melissa,
There is another glitch that has not been mentioned in the blog. New member applications are no longer expiring automatically (as the red banners on the homepage and Pending Member pages say they are supposed to).
Also, in the “Activity within 7 days” line on the homepage, new member additions are not showing up at all.
Is Yahoo fixing these problems, too?

We are still having the bounce managements problems – a bouncing member is shown as having no bounce history.

I am hoping by posting this here I can get some help with a persistent problem. Every month I have to email Tech support because my group keeps getting moved to the Adult category. I run a support group, there is nothing at all Adult about our group, I have worked hard over the last 8 years to make sure it remains clean, with no spam or adult rated content. The XXX rated ads that are placed on ‘adult groups’ and are added to the groups home page are a slap in the face for all my hard work!! I have followed all the tips that are suppose to prevent my group from getting moved into this category, all to no avail, every month over the last 2+ years I have to email tech support to take it out of the adult category and place it where it should be, but in the waiting process for it to get changed back to the correct category my members are exposed to the XXX content from the ads, not to mention how many new members this content may have run off!
HOW to I get someone at Yahoo to STOP moving my group each month???

@Jonathan,
Please report this to Customer Care (http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/members/forms/forms_index.html ) so they can track the issue further.
In the meantime, you can manually unbounce yourself by going here: http://groups.yahoo.com/member/preferences/email/view

maybe yahoo should sort out other problems as well, like people impersonating innocent people. i have had this problem since last june, a man i know (just found that info out) has been impersonating me and opening groups and plastering MY email addie on them. i have been getting nasty, disgusting, filthy email because this is all from the porn groups.
yahoo allowed this man to do this to me, and now they will not accept that they are liable for ‘professional negligence’, i cannot sue them as the head office is in the USA, so i have now started a ’cause’ to bring a law that will be worldwide that will make yahoo and other companies like them accountable in EVERY country they use there site in.
if i come back tomorrow and this post had been deleted, i will not be happy, as i am doing this wherever i can now, as i am seriously ill, and yahoo have stressed me out big time.

Melissa, I am yet another group owner that has noticed as of yesterday morning that my groups are all showing a “bounce history of 0″. So obviousily from the end of Yahoo Groups a technical thing.
Can you get the Tech Support to look into this please – as this is crazy it is happenin’ all over again.

Hi,
I am new to Groups at Yahoo. I found a site that seems to be porn under the Family Groups. It has a picture that shows two men engaging in sexual behavior with a woman. It is called “familygula” Should it be in the Adult section rather than in the Family section?
