Bug good news/bad news: Calendar and Pending Messages

Because of a hardware problem at one of Yahoo’s colocations, a number of Yahoo! properties are having technical issues. Yahoo! Groups users are being slightly affected because the Yahoo! Calendar (which Groups leverages) is temporarily "read only" (meaning you can’t add new events).

In more positive news, we have pushed a fix to the problem which surfaced this week preventing moderators from being able to view images in pending messages (generally, we never push code on a Friday but this bug seemed severe enough to warrant it). Note that one element (the "preview" link) on the edit pending message page is still broken, but we wanted to get this out regardless so that moderators who needed to view images before approving them could begin doing so immediately.

Thanks for your patience,
Yahoo! Groups Team

This still does not address the issue of posts to the groups being severely delayed (up to 2 days) to email boxes. This message (Bug Good News/Bad News) just came through my email box this morning at 09:45, Sunday, December 7. These posts to our groups are not moderated; therefore, not pending. It is really causing some issues for our RPG groups who rely upon email to respond. Can someone help with this?

And, another question is why when I click on messages I suddenly now get the whole post, instead of just the titles on the left and the authors’ names on the right? I HATE THIS. I don’t know about anybody else, but I don’t want to have to scroll down through entire (sometimes 31k messages) that I have already read in my email. I use the titles and authors names a lot, now just looking at the messages gives me a headache. How you had the messages before was a hell of a lot better than this ‘new feature’. Consider going back to the old way? PLEASE!

Still seeing messages in the same group delivered to some members but not others. I’ve temporarily disabled attachments in the theory that the problem is related to your recent improvement related to saving attachments.

It was a real experience earlier today. As I arrieved in Sacramento on my way to get my kids I had to take an exit that i did not wont to take. My kids and their new family moved to another part of town and I had to take a freeway that I did not wont to take becous it was an old route that I took everyday when i was active in the world and under the influence of all the drugs that were in style at that time crystal meth, crack cocaine, marijuana, alcohal etc.

Well I got very weak and anxiety reached its peak and I almoste went to get some drugs,my minde was made up. God and his Angels interfered and kicked some devil butt and there was victory. I went back home and then went to Baptist Church. It was Sunday, yesturday 12/07/2008. I guess God don’t even rest on his own day of rest.

Gil, you know what? This is so fantastic that you shared your Sun. it is going to speak volumes to someone about Gods love and grace. Good for you and your strength. And best of all, you are giving credit where credit is due. Tried to not give in and the battle was won for you…..yes yes yes, I love God shots!!!

I haven’t received an email since 9:45 Sunday morning. I can see OLD emails but not NEW ones. This is getting to be a real pain. I don’t know if it’s ya’ll or my computer. I’m worried.

Well I did NOT have a problem with pending messages until AFTER your “push” to fix. Now when I click on the link to get to pending messages to approve them on my group’s site I get a page not found.

    PLEASE ADVISE!

One feature that Yahoo Calender has is the group moderators have access to the private calenders of Yahoo registerees who use the calender. The result is that “Personal” events get mixed in with Meeting Announcements and Group News from administrators of the groups. As a result, I’ve moved all my PERSONAL dates to another calender system and simply abandoned Yahoo. Is there a fix for this? I would like some system in place that DOES NOT allow the Group Administrators and Moderators to add events to my personal calender! By having this feature, my own events get lost amongst the clutter of group news and meetings–many of which are in cities/countries I don’t, or can’t, possibly attend. Close of Personal Calenders so only the USER has access to it. Then, I’ll switch back. Ed Thomas

I suspect that whatever glitches are being addressed are affecting the file section of all of my groups, as my files are no longer accessible. I have tried to re-upload them, to no avail.

Several other groups I belong to have the same problem.

    Help!

    Hi
I am in yahoo groups and have not been receiving all of the messages posted to the groups; I first noticed this when I saw a reply posted to an announcement; when I went to the yahoo group web page I found many announcements and replies that never showed up in our email inbox (I only checked back through Nov 2008). This is still happening today.

    any way to fix this?

    Hi,

May I make the humble suggestion that when posting a message to your user group, that an “auto draft” (like Googles “Gmail”) be enabled so that your work is auto saved every so often. I just lost an entire post because I swithched over to the new “Rich-Text Editor Beta”, and this made me lose all my copy. I hope this helps others who may just have a power outage, and the copy is lost that way.

    Sincerely,
    Bill
