@Stephanie,
There's a current bug where users are unable to edit the information that is displayed within their profile in groups even if they have a filled out profile (info here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/issues/oldprofile.html;_ylt=AvNmhYJvZqT0sYJ98lfau6mLHHdG) this means that yes, for the time being, if you want to see their age, you have to click on each profile. However, it is important to note that if you are clicking on each person's profile to verify that they are over 18, then you don't need to do this as Yahoo! automatically filters out users who are under 18 if your group is behind an adult wall.

RE: your second question-- if you have an alternate ID and want to link it to your main profile you need to go to http://profiles.yahoo.com/settings/peoplesearch (Profiles>Settings>Search) and check the top box, making your profile searchable, and then any subsequent boxes for each of your alternate IDs. This "links" your alternate IDs (or aliases) to your main ID. Once you hit save, you should see the same profile information for your alternate ID as you do for your main profile.

Another question - I have one main ID and an alternate one. Why, with this alternate one, does my profile come up empty??

I own three groups and co-moderate three others. Why, when new members apply, their profile comes up in the group list as empty but if I click on their YAHOO ID, it is filled out?? Do I have to click on each members ID to find out their age??

I have the same problem as Eric. he posted back in November, but I do not see a response to his query. I also tried to make out a profile, and I keep getting a message saying:

" your profile was deactivated by an administrator". I have used every trick up my sleeve, and nothing is working. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

I don't know if the new profiles are to blame, but somehow some spammer was able to harvest my e-mail address and send me spam invites to a couple pornspam groups. Fortunately it was an old Yahoo mail account they sent it to which is one I never use any more, and had checked out of sheer curiousity.

This was anew event that has never happened to me in 10+ years of using yahoo and Groups.

The only thing that has changed for me is the profile system being implemented. It had startling amount of my personal info available which I had to then go in and remove from the profile for privacy sake. I was not pleased.

On the plus side, Groups Abuse team got back to me in 24 hours after having investigated the reports, or so said the canned answer. Anyway I was pleased with that much. Not sure if the profiles are what allowed me to be farmed or not, but it seems to be the only new variable. I stand with the crowd that says this was badly done. The concept is not without merit but the implementation and current state of affairs with profiles is pretty much repugnant.
