Why did You Guys screw up the profiles??????

The “you have to redo your profile” thing is a nightmare for group owners who approve using profiles, members who are not too Yahoo savvy and well the mind boggles. Someone there, Jami? Gordon Strause? y_groups_team? Just think about the millions who cannot join groups or approve members – this needs to be done a different way. How about a statement we can send to all our group members at least. And maybe to our pending members?? Pretty please.

the profile trashing was not well thought out, esp. with no warning-creating havoc at the very least-will hurt yahoo in more ways than you can predict, really a poor choice for yahoo-not all of us want every app to be a social network-

YAHOO doesn’t give a flip about groups users…
All they’re interested in is obtaining more info for marketing and spam !
I have never seen anything so UPSETTING and so inexcuseable ! ….
To quote a political slogan “CHANGE WE CAN COUNT ON …..” YAHOO screw ups !!!!!!
How about ” USERS FIRST ?” …..

At least give the users a choice between the old version and the new “Improved” version.
New one doesn’t cut it.

Yahoo is laying the groundwork for hari kari and has been for quite a while.
Groups are falling apart and it’s not due to owners/moderators, but all the changes Ygroups have been making. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Look back 4, 5 years and see the successes in groups and the demise as you move forward in time. Is this Yahoo’s intent?
Additionally, moving profile info from 360 into this new listing is unthinkable! Thank goodness I deleted most stuff since I couldn’t delete the whole 360 mess and I don’t feel comfortable posting info that can be seen outside of my chosen circle!!
I hope Ygroups will rest in peace.

I’ve been using yahoo now for over 12 years. And this has to take the biscuit. First it was yahoo chat. Had loads of rooms to join and even local rooms. Now we’re stuck with only a few rooms. And most of those are full of bots.
Then the groups where changed. They didn’t need to be updated. And now you have messed up the profiles. How am i supposed to moderate group’s and stop the minors from joining my groups that are not suitable to them?
Also there are groups out there that are dedicated to certain area’s. Take free-cycle for instance. They have thousands of groups and they are only supposed to be for locals. Not world wide individuals. What are they going to do now?
Please put the yahoo profiles back to how they where.

I have been trying to sign up for a group. I have given about 100 different names, and the answer is ALWAYS “that name has already been taken”, or “that name is not acceptable”. I find it VERY HARD TO BELIEVE that this is true. I have not ever given a name that would be rude or questionable! What’s going on? What am I missing?

Well now I just spent WEEKS finishing up my rather long Yahoo Profile only to long on today to find out it has vanished! Can this have something to do with Yahoos new profiling system? Why did they have to “poof” my old one? All that work of writing and editing and re-writing for naught?

Well, I concur with many of the comments here. But on a different note – Y! says people can update their profiles, and groups are in a kerfuffle over the changes. Yet as a regular ‘user’, I’ve gotten no notification of the new profile system or the loss of my current profile. Was Y! planning on telling anyone about the changes???

I want my old profile info back! At least they could have warned us that the old ones would be poofed. I worked hard for weeks on mine only to have it disappear! NOT a good thing, ya think?

Do you know if it is MANDATORY that we change our profiles?

So, I have a name here and an alias under that name. I have yet to be able to figure out how to edit the profile of the alias. I can edit my main profile. Has anyone done this? Am I just missing a simple step?
So frustrating….

Instructions to enter profile as follows
If you need to edit your profile, go to your buddy list pick a friend and open their profile.
On the left hand side you will see MY Profile hit that and you should get a sign in page.
Sign in and that’s your profile.
It’s the long way around but it works.

Is there a PROFILES Blog that we can go to? Since this affects all areas of Yahoo – including mail there are issues that I would like to clarify. I have written to customer care, but all I have received to date is an autoresponder telling me that I will get a reply within 24 hours – NOT! I have two YIDs because I had this original ID going all the way back to one-list/e-groups and then y-groups. My ISP was prodigy, which was then bought out by SBC who partnered with yahoo and I had to get an ID that was linked to my prodigy account – back then I was told that if I ever left prodigy my ID would become invalid so I created a new YID which is the one now attached to my ATT-Yahoo account and which I use for a back-up/duplicate addy for the lists I moderate so that I will always have access even if one goes down due to technical issues. I want to know where I now stand at such time as I cancel my ATT-Yahoo subscription (already have a Y-Mail addy) which will happen I am now connected to cable and do not use their dial up service – just e-mail.

Thanks heaps. I can’t open my old profile therefore cannot access my contacts list, meaning I can’t contact any of the friends I’ve made online. You guys suck.
