Yahoo! Groups Tip: Advanced message search
Did you know that there’s an advanced message search feature within Yahoo! Groups?
Just click Advanced next to the search box on your group’s messages page, a new page opens up with options you can select to create a very specific search of messages within your group. This tool allows you to search for messages from a specific timeframe or date range, from a specific member, or by subject or topic.

Once you select your criteria and click the search button, all messages within the group that meets that criteria are returned.
This feature has saved me a bunch of time on more than one occasion and I hope you find it useful as well.

I;d rather have an advanced group search. I don’t usually use YG to find messages, I usually sort through my own e-mail inbox. Glad its there, but priority wise, this is less valuable to me than being able to find an active group.

would be great if at least a a simple search would work reliably. at the moment search does not work at all for pinhead group. and in some rare cases the group is not available at all.

Please tell me why you can’t embed youtube videos in group? I think it’s because google owns them.

hello
with the ever expanding Management logs, why cant we have an advance search there as well. searches could be faster if we could insert some guides like dates. in my group i have over 9000 entries for membership alone. searching would be faster if i could do something like tell it to searchthe past 6 months vrs having it search all 7 yrs of records.

Hi Dan,
Only simple HTML can be used within groups. The code to embed videos, including Yahoo! Videos, is too complex.
This is something we hope to offer in the future.
To others who have posted feedback and suggestions for search, I’ll be sure to pass them on to the Groups team.
Thanks!

Hi,
Is there a timeframe as to when the regular search within a yahoogroup will be up & running? I miss it terribly.

I got to the screen you show in and filled in Date, Author, Subject, Message Body. The only response I get is a red message saying nothing matches what I requested. I have used 1,2,3,or all 4 boxes and it never finds anything that matches

I like the “advanced” search feature; however, I would like it more if the REGULAR search feature would work!! It has not been working for almost a month now!

advanced search was not working today.
I had it search for a message i had already found and it said no such message.

Message archive search is providing incomplete results for requests.
This is a fairly serious flaw in this feature

Neither the basic or the advanced search have worked for some time!
It used to find every instance of words, numbers and phrases in the subject and body (I use it to make sure there is no duplication in my messages to group members) but now it doesn’t even find duplications within the last week (I’ve been using it since 1999 and it has always searched all the way back!!!).
It is also very frustrating that there is no way to contact a human with these issues at Yahoo!
Does anyone else experience these frustrations?

Yes, several people in our group have noticed. We are equally frustrated that nobody can contact Yahoo to find out what’s going on. I guess they’re all hiding under their desks in case Microsoft knocks on the door again.

I have a moderated groups with 110 members. Maps do not add to the usefulness. I would be concerned that you not remove any functionality that I have or require that I institute any new feature like maps. Second that you do not provide changes that reduce the security of my groups.
I am pleased with your service and it works well for my groups.
Thank you,
Paul
