Reiterating, all today (may 9 2008) has been awful, intermittent “archives not available”, messages disappearing, messages obviously sent by the list that land in my email but aren’t in the archives, the listowner nowhere to be found (well that is a separate problem with the one list I’m talking about as it seems to be some sort of secret) point is whoever is at the blahblah-groups-owner address isn’t getting my emails or he/she/it would probably have replied by now.
Whatever yahoo did to “improve” this, could you please stop?

MY group was placed in the adult section
I have heard a rumor that yahoo is closing all adult sites//is this true and if so how come some are still around and should yahoo have warned us so we could take our links etc else where?
I looked and there is alot of adult groups in yahoo some like ours who provide a service to others,… not all adult groups are about sex..
if yahoo is getting rid of the adult groups why is it still an option when one is making a group..

May 8th had problems on and off all day approving posts. Today May 9th cannot access the groups at all. Everything is offline. When will the groups be working again?
I don’t know if this is the right place to put this comment or not.
In the invite members section the option to include a customized message is now gone. For several of my groups that invitation message was quite important as it included specific information about the group. I would very much like to have that option put back.
Where can I find information about the implications for Yahoo! Groups’ of Yahoo’s announcements that it will be adding more “social” features in the months ahead? One decision this is relevant to is whether on not to stay with Yahoo! Groups. If Yahoo! is not going to significantly enhance Yahoo! Groups, it would be nice to know that.
For those that were complaining, I would like to tell you that I was fortunate enough to meet Jami, Groups Community Manager and other Yahoo! Groups Team members this past month and they are sincerely working very hard to make Yahoo! Groups a wonderful place to be for all of us.
Please be patient, they are dedicated to improving Groups and they do listen to our suggestions.
I have worked with social groups on the internet since 1997. Many of the groups PAID for a place to be; I even worked on websites where we had to pay to have a group. Yahoo! is giving us a free space to do our thing, and they are working hard to make improvements.
Good things come to those who wait. I’m sure if you have a little more patience, you will be very happy in the weeks to come.

can we have two imp changes
1st** Can we have differnet settings for sharing files & sharing photos
I dont nessarily want to share both togeher
2nd can we have different setting for sharing files with only old members but not with newmembers u8ntil we feel comfortable with them

Since this ‘maintenance’ I can’t upload larger files to my groups.
The dreaded timed out issue is back!
Why, oh WHY?!
For months I’ve been able to upload about 4.5mb but now I’m getting timed out after only 1 minute. I’ve got a slow internet connection.
Yahoo fixed and solved this problem (I was very grateful) but now it’s back. If it aint broke, don’t fix it!

This new/old issue will kill my participation in my groups.
I just checked one of the more active groups I’m on, and they are receiving multiples of messages! First it was doubles, and now it’s triples of messages. I’ve seen that behavior before… and that doesn’t bode well.

There is a person (I will give you the name privately), in the group,”Edwardsville All in one”. wholist every single item that she has for sell. It loads up my email and I’d like to know if you know of anyone who can do something about this? I am so ready to change my email address but WHY should I? Why can’t she just say”numerous items for sale” and list them all then?
Either something be done or I will have to change my email address or unsubscribe to the group.

I find the group pages frustrating – items get lost because so many responses about one thing can take up pages. I have found that the Tek-Tips (www.tek-tips.com) site has a much better layout for questions & answers – the question is posted…and the responses are posted inside of the same item….not pages of responses. It is much easier to work in and cleaner. Take a tip there.

The downtime for the site maintenance I reference in this post was independent of other site issues your group may have been experiencing.
Betty – It is unfortunate that you feel I am not being anything but honest with all of you. On the contrary, I feel that we’ve made significant improvements in the communication of known issues and hope that you would agree.
Vivian – to delete your group you need to login to your group, click the Management link in the left hand sidebar. Once you are on the Management page, on the right hand side of the page, you will see a link to “Delete Group”.

I am missing 2 groups from my list. Where are they? I hope this is only temporary, but they have been missing for a couple of days. Did you lose them?
if it’s all fixed – you can’t prove it by my experiences today –
Glitchey all over the map – can’t access ‘my groups’ list – archives unavailable – and getting “unable to retrieve message #_____” when I try to either read on web or post at some groups -
I want to cancel my group, pro-gress_evolve, because it no longer interest me.
I typed and posted a lot of info and there were no comments or discussion or acknowledgement by the members.
I am bored with the group and want it canceled.
You’re one up on me, Brian, I just checked back to report that NONE of the groups I own are working at all and neither are several I am a member of.
7 hours later, 3 out of 5 operations (like paging through the messages) return “group is not available”. Sometimes it works. Mostly it doesn’t.

I hate to break it to you, but it has been much longer than 60 minutes.
Please do not lie to us. We are not quite that stupid. We all saw the error messages. At this point you are going to have a very hard time convincing us this was a planned outage.
Relations between the Yahoo Groups team and your users have gotten more strained by the day of late. I have to say I think adding the direct insult of lying to our faces is not going to help that situation.
Things happen, especially in computer land. Machines break, servers crash, programming breaks. These are parts of the ups and downs of life. However, if there has been a problem, be honest about it. Honestly admitting you got bitten by something no one can anticipate gives the groups team much more credibility than trying to pretend you “forgot” to tell us about upcoming maintenance does.
Is “Groups site maintenance” shorthand for bandwidth problems due to the Earth Day promotion? Otherwise, we would have to conclude that the PTB were stupid by scheduling maintenance on the same day as an important promotion!
