Seldom I write comments but resource really cool
I would like to see a numerical record of a rating by a reader, for each message, but only one rating per reader, and the average of all readers after the reader’s rating is entered. Something like Answers has already.
Numerical Ratings from 0 to 9 would be fine.

Great Idea except I would like for it to be in Kentucky. It is more convienient for me
hi I would be delighted to attend the group meeting
I am so excited to attend
I signed up for this when it was originally scheduled on March 4 (election day). Not knowing for sure if I needed to register again for the March 5 meeting, I clicked the link, and got a Contact Intelligence banner with the message
The survey you are attempting to answer does not exist.
Below it. Hmmmm
As group founder/owner I would like to be there, sadly I live in Holland. We are far behind other countries and we still cannot get an @yahoo.nl account, grrrrrrrrrrr.
Have a great day in Dallas!
Regards,
Victoria Dijkstra
My cousin lives in a suburb of Dallas and may attend if we knew exactly were it’s at. I noticed that is the big argument on here is that no one knows where it is. I don’t understand why Yahoo wouldn’t list it unless they know for sure who is going and then send the info. Does anyone know about the Yahoo group conference coming up next month in CA.? Let me know if you hear anything. Thanks, Angel
sorry i will not be able to attened
Is there a way to unsubscribe from messages from this blog? I don’t remember opting in to receiving them, and I can’t find any way to opt out.
I find it really irritating that whenever I access the groups I moderate, I’m now presented with a gigantic intrusive message : “Are you a Group Moderator in the Dallas area? If so, click the link below to learn about a special Groups Moderator Town Hall event on March 5th.”
Come on, what percentage of moderators live in Dallas? I live in Europe so this could hardly be less relevant to me. But even if you were meeting in London, I probably wouldn’t have time to come to a meeting about Yahoo! Groups. The most I’d be able to do is fill in an online questionnaire.
So while I don’t want to give you a hard time, and I appreciate the value of this online community greatly, I also *really* don’t want to be presented with irrelevant and intrusive messages. Please rethink the way you’re doing this.
Can you get a meeting set up for London UK?…
Is there going to be a Town Meeting for for those of us here on the East Coast…MD/VA/DC/NC/SC/ATL/FL?
Hello Kimlee,
I’ve sent you an email, please let me know if you do not receive it.
Thanks!
jami
I went to the link and tried to send my info, the form would not accept my phone number and I got the message,”you have already responded to this survey”..
We would like to attend, please contact me by email with the information. My husband and I have a group together, “Makeitwork”.
@ CW – I have been accused of that more than once in my existence. Electronic communications are impersonal, sometimes people come off extremely cold when thats not what was intended. I do agree there was alot of “whining” about the choice of the date, I said so right up at the top. I have always believed that people who really want things make the sacrifices needed to obtain them. You sound like a positive person, you should come if for no other purpose than to help counter some of the negative vibes that are always going to be present when you put a bunch of folks together in a room with each other. Positivity, like intellect and enlightenment, is contagious you know. Hope to see you there.
@ Jami – Thanks for putting this together. I was really pleased to see that you all decided to start having these. Just like when political candidates put these together, even if they take a beating by the attendees, the greater good usually benefits from the end result and puts the engineering teams more in touch with the users. The end result is a better product.
Add my name to any list that would prefer an online meeting, or at least a weekend one. I live on the far west side of Ft Worth, work til 5:30, and just getting thru downtown FtWorth can take 30 min during drive-time. Hotel in Irving near DFW would be nearly impossible. So I won’t attend – and since both my co-moderators are active in church, and one’s a nurse on call, we’ll all miss it. Too bad, I’ve read interesting things about the other meetings.
Hello everyone,
Thank you for your continued comments.
Eli – Thanks for your suggestion, we have heard other moderators suggest an online event as well, we’ll definitely consider for the future.
Mike & Jet – As is indicated in the original blog post, we plan to host these events in various geographical locations throughout the year. If you’d like to be notified of future events in your area, please follow the link above.
Dorian – Event registration is not closed. I am not certain why you were unable to register but please try again and let me know if you still experience difficulties.
For those of you located in India, our Yahoo! India Groups team hosts similar events in India. You can sign up to be notified of future events at the site below:

Hi…I’d like to see more events like this for moderators. For instance, not just cities, but state events. Like Eastern Washington/Western Washington, or Northern California/Southern California…I’m sure you see where I’m headed.
Thanks for putting together such a great event. It makes me wish I lived in Dallas, TX.
Jet
Would LOVE to attend; however apparently registration is now closed. The FIRST I heard of this meeting was 2 days ago in an email from YahooGroups – which did NOT include any link to Register for the event.
Prime Suggestion to YahooGroups: Get More Organized?!
How frustrating to be ‘invited’ to something late and after event registration closes – via an email that forces one to search for the registration link that is now inoperable.
I am not impressed:)
Hellow I am new cammer, I there there any bangali please mail me
As a new moderator starting a new group when I first heard of this townhall. I was excited and entergetic about the idea of going and being able to “pick” the brains of others but in reading the various post the proverbial wind has left the sails of the ship of enthusiasm. I’ve never heard such negative rhetoric about something that is suppose to be positive. All I saw was excuses, which are the tools of the weak and the incompetent which build monuments of nothingness. How do you expect groups to be positive when the moderators themselves come off so negative.
AS a moderator from indiana and seeing how this is a dallas only event. i respectfully ask you not send me anymore information on an event i can’t attend.
Would love to go… but I live in Asia…
Oh well.
Will this ever get to asia?
Hello everyone! I think that this Moderator Town Hall meeting is a good idea however, I would like to suggest to the organizers that it may be more efficient and practical to conduct a town hall meeting such as this online. As you know, many of our moderator business is conducted online thus it would just make better sense to do it online. Many of us are quite busy and adding travel time, paying for gasoline, and all that comes with it is just more cumbersome. Also, I think that there would be a lot more participation with an online town hall meeting. Please consider my thoughts and suggestions and I will certainly attend and participate; and I think many other will too. Sincerely, Eli
@ Jami, I got several e-mails. I finally got one that says “please print this e-mail and bring it with you to the event”, so I think I finally figured it out. If thats the one, I got it. If there was something else, please let me know. I also left you a voice mail earlier this morning to confirm that indeed I did get this done right.

Very nice system of Yahoo group
Hi, this is a very good initiative! It will give free rein to Moderators’ talents while using their groups.
I’ d like to know whether it will possible that thses moderators will have an access to attend this meeting.
Med Guam./Morocco
WOW that was close!!!! Without a thought I came close to saying I’ll be there, one problem I live in Hunlock Creek PA and when it mentioned Dallas WOW something close to me DALLAS PA only 15 miles away….OH Dallas TX might be nice to include the city and state we are asking about.
Have fun all!!!
Bobby
Contact me if you need travel I run a site
Kimberly, Abraham, Reyna & Mike (and all others who wish to attend but want more details) we’d love for you to attend, please follow the directions within the body of this blog post.
Skip Press – we actually held an event in Los Angeles last November, I am sorry you didn’t hear about it sooner!
Keith – you should have received an email from me, if you haven’t, please let me know!
IotaTau Moderator – the line you reference is included because Yahoo! may reach out to you via our vendor’s tools. We respect your privacy and will not contact you unless it’s related to the Town Hall event.
Michael – please try the link once again, I am guessing it was an intermittent error.
Finally, Keith is correct. The “real stuff doesn’t get underway until 7 PM”.
Thanks all!
Jami
When will we have such an event of group moderators in Delhi, India ? Many moderators here would like to come.
I would like to attend the event in Irving or Dallas, let me know where?

Wednesday is not a good night for Texas. Many of us are in church. However,
I will try to come. Please tell us where it is located.
“some group members are feeding groups posts of private groups to their blogs, apparently via Google widgets”
Errr… I meant to say that the posts from groups that have private, members-only archives are being posted to blogs belonging to a member of the group, who has NOT asked for permission to do this.
They’re not simply quoting some info in a post, they’re having the entire post (including the person’s unmasked email address) re-posted to their blog. In many cases, the entire thread is being automatically fed to their blog (this is evident from the lack of judicious pruning – everything is getting posted).
Terry
As previously mentioned by several people, a Wednesday evening is definitely not an ideal choice:
1. it’s church night for many people
2. those who are involved with the elections will be trying to recover from a very late night the previous evening
3. for some of us it’s a 25-mile one-way trip dab smack in the middle of rush hour, which means a 90-minute drive if you’re lucky (arriving at 6:30 PM if you can leave right at 5 PM)
4. some of us (yeah, that’s me) have night vision problems and prefer to avoid unknown routes at night, so a daytime meeting would be best, which means on the weekend (but avoid conflicts with church on Sunday)
All that being said, I’d love to attend, as it’s next to impossible to contact anyone from Yahoo! when having spam problems in the groups. One thing of major concern right now is that some group members are feeding groups posts of private groups to their blogs, apparently via Google widgets…
Terry
when is your moderator town meeting schedule in new york?
please make it sooner.
It’s a real meeting.
I went to the one in Los Angeles last November, it was very interesting.
Martha
On March 5, those of us who have worked the Texas Primay elections will be exhausted and resting. You should try a few days later.
sorry I don’t live in America . i live i sudan, thank you for inviting me and I hope to find an other chance to exchange ideas
Well, I went to the registry page, and Yahoo, or who ever, is asking for my complete address, phone number, Yahoo ID, etc., etc.. I do not feel that I can give this information out, unless the site is secure. There for, I shall not give the information on the internet…..
If however, Yahoo still would like to get together, get a secure site, and send me an e-mail. See address above….
Thanks, D. F. Tollenaar, Dallas, TX
A lot of people seem to think the Meeting is the same day as the Texas primary. However, re-reading the announcement, I see that the meeting is the day AFTER the Texas primary–March 5, Not March 4.
when are you guys coming to Houston? need to know way ahead of time if you are planning to meet some of us in Houston.
Thanks.

This is a wondeful idea. I would be interested in going.
This a great idea! I am looking forward to a Town Hall meeting in the Phoenix, AZ area.
I am the moderator/owner of 7 groups with hundreds of members. I appreciate Yahoo’s efforts to have a Town Hall Meeting – what a great idea. Irving is the perfect location. Right bewteen Dallas and Fort Worth and close to DFW Airport. Thanks, Yahoo. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend. I am the Associate Pastor of Music at a church and as mentioned in a comment above, Wednesdays are busy nights at church, especially getting ready for Easter!
On a technical note, if you are getting all the above comments via email, right beneath the “Submit Comment” button there is a box was that said: “Notify me of followup comments via e-mail”. I think by default, it was checked.
Well, the real stuff doesn’t get underway until 7 PM. 6-7PM is just a meet and greet, so you could probably be late to that and still be safe. Hopefully someone from Yahoo will come on and say something about that notion.
@ Andy – Good to see someone else understands how the system really works. The “people” don’t “elect” the president, at least not under the current system. And who the president is really dosen’t matter that much. Most of the spending, scamming and crooked dealings are done on the local and state level (and no one pays attention to local politics) and some in the Congress as well, but the president is really just a mouthpiece for various committees, regulatory bodies and the Congress. That is to say, the president has no power, he is just the guy who gets up and talks about it.
Though, myself, I am in favor of eliminating primary elections altogether and letting the parties select a single candidate to put forth based on rules that each party establishes. Having 50 states who all have their own little rules about how and when primaries are run (some states have theirs early, most on Super Tuesday, some later (Texas) and some states have open primaries while others are closed, etc, etc.) is bull. Elections for federal offices should be governed solely by federal rules. One office, one election, one set of rules.
I voted early, but there is a precinct convention after the polls close on March 4, so I will be unable to attend. Also, Irving is not a convenient location for me since I live in uptown Dallas.
